Rhonda's Bio:

Rhonda Rhea is a pastor’s wife and mother of five. She lives near St. Louis, though she confesses she spends most of her time either circling the county delivering teens hither and yon or wrestling them for her car keys. She is a radio personality and in addition to regular radio features, also appears on radio and TV programs throughout the country, as well as enjoying a recurring spot on Focus on the Family’s “Audio Journal.”

Rhonda is a humor columnist for publications in the U.S., Canada and South Africa and has written hundreds of articles for Today’s Christian Woman, Christian Parenting Today, Marriage Partnership, HomeLife, ParentLife and dozens more. Her book, Amusing Grace (Cook, 2003) is an insanely fun book for moms and Turkey Soup for the Soul—Tastes Just Like Chicken (Cook, 2004) is a hilarious book for “chicks.” She has also written Who Put the Cat in the Fridge (Cook, 2005), a humorous and helpful look at family life and I’m Dreaming of Some White Chocolate, (Baker, 2006) a Christmas book with a little holly and a lot of jolly. Her newest book with Baker/Revell, High Heels in High Places, is scheduled for release in 2007.

Rhonda's Speaking Topics:

Porch Swing Peace
Busyness, busyness, busyness! Wouldn't it be nice to spend a little time on the front porch swing? Oh, for a little rest and refreshment--peace! We need those porch swing times physically and spiritually. Find out what it really means to truly rest in Christ.

I'm a Little Teapot
Did you know that you're shaped perfectly--even if you're "short and stout"? We can learn through "Teapot Theology" that finding our place of ministry is discovering we're perfectly shaped to serve. Discover how to become all your Father has designed you to be!

Runners In the Stockings of Life
Snags of life getting you down? 2 Corinthians 4:17 tells us that "our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." Find out how to persevere--not just survive, but joyfully thrive!

High Heels in High Places
Sometimes it's all about the shoes. Let's face it, every gal has at least one shallow moment a week. But even shallow gals can go higher places. Take your "next step" in this biblical journey to higher places in your walk with Christ--with fall-off-your-high-heels laughter all along the way.

Making Friendships and Making Friendships Last
Lucy and Ethel. Butch and Sundance. Even Barney and Baby Bop. We all need a special bud. From making a new friend to dealing with a high-maintenance pal, this class covers the ABC's of staying friends God's way.

Home Improvement--Building a Sturdy Marriage
The nitty-gritty how-to's of "happily ever after." This talk will give you a good laugh and still let you go home with practical tools that you can use to help build a marriage with a godly foundation.

Soul Aerobics
Learn fun exercises to increase your spiritual strength and endurance. Soul Aerobics will challenge and encourage, offering a chuckle along the way. This is a great class for the new Christian and the old-timer in the faith alike.

The Juggling Act
You can walk away from this talk with some great tips on how to survive the juggle of a crazy schedule. Learn how to keep your sanity when all of life is up in the air--and maybe how to get a handle on a few of those train wrecks in your own Day Timer.

Meeting Planners Say:

Just got a note in the mail today from an event planner who said, "Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful humor and love of Christ with us."

Rhonda Says:

Yes I am a humorist. (I've totally shocked you, haven't I?). I think the rule is: if you laugh more than five times (or if there's any leakage of bodily fluids), you can be classified as a humorist. Humor helps me connect with a listener. Folks tend to let their guards down once they've laughed so that they're better able and more ready to listen to a message from God's Word.

Gospel Presentation?

Yes, but I always ask permission from the event planner. If it's a group she's pretty sure is already Christian, then we focus more on discipleship issues. Even in a strictly Christian audience, however, I ask during the presentation(s) that anyone with questions about their eternity/their surrender to Christ find me or one of the leaders after the event or between meetings. The Gospel is the very "why" of life and I love every opportunity I get to share it.

Why Rhonda Speaks:

Sharing with people that "why" of life and talking about the heart issues of discipleship and following Christ--that's my calling. There's nothing as compelling as a calling.

Rhonda's Goal:

...for whatever in the universe God wants to do! My prayer is that listeners will be encouraged to take their next step of faith, whether it's an area of surrender, learning to rest in him, some point of obedience or that very first step of salvation.
